"The First Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians"

Paul went to Corinth in Greece on his second missionary journey. Corinth was a thriving commercial center and a very corrupt city. The church in Corinth had several problems, so Paul wrote this epistle to correct them.

Paul's purpose for writing was to respond to a letter that he received with questions concerning different issues. To correct carnal abuses that were existing in the Corinthian church, to talk to them about spiritual things such as: the operation of the gifts of the Spirit, the supremacy of love, and the power of the resurrection. And to bring them into the consciousness of the universal church of God in Jesus Christ.

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NKJV
